About Maryann Schmid
Maryann’s burning desire to help and support her community began on the idyllic shores of sparkling spring-fed waters of Blue Lakes, when she and her husband, Admiral Peter, restored what was initially named the Blue Lakes Lodge into the charming, rustic, and welcoming resort that it is today. Maryann and Peter, both the previous owners of The Lodge at Blue Lakes, wanted to create jobs and bring in more tourists to help support Lake County.
In 2018, both Peter and Maryann saw how devastating Mendocino Complex Fire affected the livelihood of everyone she knew, including her valued workforce. They aspired to a have a stronger community that could withstand any environmental and economic challenges that would come their way. They knew that this could only happen if everyone in the community would stand united and band together to help Lake County.
Shortly after, Maryann founded 1Team 1Dream, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and small businesses on sustainable business practices that can collectively strengthen Lake County as a community. She and her husband have devoted their time and a vast number of resources to help jumpstart The Hands Up Lake County Business Competition. From $25,000 in cash prizes in 2020, Maryann, with the help of the board of 1Team 1Dream and its major sponsors, was able to increase the 2022 cash prizes to $75,000.
Today, Peter and Maryann shuttle to and from the US and Europe. Both real estate investors, they continue to be a major sponsor of 1Team1Dream. Maryann continues to sit as Vice-Chair of 1Team 1Dream where she employs growth marketing campaigns to spur lifelong advocacy for Lake County. She also sits on the board of Lake County Tourism Improvement District, which promotes Lake County as a must-see destination through a robust and holistic marketing program.
